What is LEADER (trial)?
The first GLP-1 cardiovascular outcomes trial to show a MACE reduction: 9,340 adults with type 2 diabetes plus established CVD or high risk, liraglutide against placebo over a median 3.8 years (Marso 2016 NEJM, PMID 27295427).
MACE HR 0.87, P=0.01. It established the class as cardioprotective before SUSTAIN-6 confirmed it.
