Foundayo Alternatives Compared
An injection, and a dual GIP/GLP-1 agonist. No approved option averages more weight loss
Zepbound works through tirzepatide's dual GIP/GLP-1 mechanism to reduce appetite through both central brain signals and peripheral metabolic effects.
The strongest injectable against the first non-peptide pill. SURMOUNT-1 reported −20.9% at 72 weeks for Zepbound; ATTAIN-1 reported −11.1% at 72 weeks for Foundayo — different trials, but both at 72 weeks in obesity, which makes the comparison unusually readable for a cross-trial one. Neither has published cardiovascular outcomes. Zepbound is $349–$499 through LillyDirect; Foundayo's direct-pay tier is still rolling out. Roughly: more weight loss, or no needle and no cold chain.

Wegovy mimics the GLP-1 hormone to signal fullness to the brain, slow stomach emptying, and reduce overall caloric intake.
STEP-1 reported −14.9% at 68 weeks for Wegovy; ATTAIN-1 reported −11.1% at 72 weeks for Foundayo. Close enough that delivery and cost may decide it — but Wegovy carries the completed cardiovascular outcome, MACE −20% in SELECT, and Foundayo has no MACE data yet. That is a real asymmetry rather than a footnote: one has been shown to prevent events, the other has been shown to reduce weight. Wegovy runs $349–$499 through NovoCare; Foundayo's pricing is still landing.

Liraglutide is an acylated, 97%-homologous analog of native human GLP-1, modified with a fatty-acid side chain that lets it bind albumin and resist DPP-4 degradation — extending its half-life from minutes to about 13 hours.
Both are taken every day; only one requires an injection. SCALE Obesity reported about −8.0% at 56 weeks for Saxenda, ATTAIN-1 −11.1% at 72 weeks for Foundayo. The commercial picture is one-sided: Saxenda lists near $1,400 with no manufacturer cash-pay program, and Foundayo arrives with LillyDirect pricing pending. For a daily-dosing patient with no strong reason to inject, the pill is the more obvious starting conversation.
