Epithalamin, an extract first isolated from the pineal gland, is the basis for Epitalon (also spelled epithalon), a synthetic four-amino-acid peptide. Among longevity peptides it is one of the more studied for activating telomerase, which rebuilds the protective caps on chromosomes. Human cell lines grown in the lab have been pushed past their normal division limit with it, and trials in older adults, run in Russia, reported lower mortality and longer telomeres across long-term follow-up. Weigh that against where it comes from: decades of Russian institutional studies, never independently validated elsewhere, with no Western clinical-trial evidence to match. No compounding pharmacy may lawfully sell it in the US either. The current status is below.

How much of an anti-obesity medication is covered varies widely between state Medicaid programs and between commercial plans[9][10]. Under IRS Publication 502, compounded GLP-1s and brand-name ones alike are generally FSA/HSA eligible where a prescription exists[11].
