Ozempic Storage at a Glance
Source: Ozempic FDA prescribing information via DailyMed (SetID adec4fd2-6858-4c99-91d4-531f5f2a2d79), Section 16.2 How Supplied/Storage and Handling, read on 2026-07-12. Treat this as a summary: the full label and the patient instructions in your box are the authority.
Handling the pen or vial
Once you start using it: the in-use window is 56 days after first use (pen) / 28 days (prefilled syringe). Write down the day you first used it — on the device itself or in your calendar — because the label says discard at the end of that window regardless of how much is left.
The carton it arrived in is the light protection, and the obvious place to write the first-use date, so keep the pen or vial inside it wherever you can. Between doses the needle comes off; a pen should never be stored with one attached.
Traveling with Ozempic
Unopened, it belongs in a fridge. Opened, it can spend up to 56 days at room temperature, cap on between doses and out of sun and heat. Put the first-use date somewhere you will see it — on the pen barrel or in your calendar — because nothing on the device counts down for you.
